My tv and movie highlights 2013!

It´s been quite a year....well I guess that is what we say every year right? In this post I´ll like to review my personal tv and movie year 2013. I´m going to talk about my highlights, my disappointments and everything in between;)

So let´s start with the tv shows that I was kind of excited about and that lost me at one point:

Dracula
(source: Tumblr)

To be honest, I was freaking out when I heard that Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be playing "Dracula". I loved him in "The Tudors" and "Kick it like Beckham". Also the promo videos for the show where amazing:

But when I started the trailer I was kind of disappointed....in my opinion the dialogues where very slow and the story line and the characters where nothing really new! It didn´t suck me in (you see what I did there??;) ) like other shows did this year.

Once Upon A Time: In Wonderland
(source: www.perezhilton.com)

Okay you guys, I really really tried to give this one a chance, I mean after all the rabbit is sooo cute. But the acting just isn´t good enough to get me hooked. I really like the story how Alice comes back to Wonderland to find her true love, but a genie of all things...really?

Witches of East End
(source: Tumblr)

When I heard that Jenna Dewan-Tatum would be in a tv show about witches I could not wait to see it. This was until I actually saw the first few episodes!!! To be honest you guys, I thought I knew bad tv but this show...I don´t even know how to explain it. Everything is just over the top and hyper dramatic in a very bad way. I never felt, like I was really in this world that you have to be in in order to enjoy these fantasy/mystic shows. Jenna is such a good actress, I felt kind of bad for her that she got this weird role. But I think I red a few days ago, that there will be a second season, well let´s see how this goes!

666 Park Avenue

(source:Tumblr)

One name ladies and gentleman: Robert Buckley!! I think this was his first gig after "One Tree Hill" and I was on cloud 9 when I heard he would be back on my tv screen. I really enjoyed the first few episodes of the show, but once it turned out that the hotel/apartment whatever had some kind of hidden, weird secret it lost me. The acting was okay, but the story wasn´t enough for me to keep on watching.

True Blood

(source: Tumblr)

Okay first of all I need to get an SPOILER ALERT out there for everyone who has not seen season 6 of True Blood!!!
So now that this is out of the way I have to tell you I was so disappointed from this season. I really hated the whole storyline around the captioning of vampires and testing them and bla bla. Also what the hell was that whole thing going on with Bill? A god like vampire or whatever he was supposed to be was something I hope I never have to see again!! Sookie and her new (fake) love interest: It just sucked! And to make matters even worse ERIK freaking died! The one thing that would have kept me watching was burned alive! Well at least he was naked in his last minutes;)

Pretty Little Liars

(source: Tumblr)

I really hate to say it but for me PLL lost it´s charm. The only reason I still tune is is the fact that Aria wears the cutest outfits;) After four seasons of running from "A" we think we found out....I say we `think`because we thought once before that we knew who "A" was....only to find out that Mona is just working for the big bad wolf, too. So now we know who it is: MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!!

They really want to tell me that it´s Ezra, like really?! WTF?! What possible reason could he have and why is Allie so afraid of him? I hate that there are even more questions now and that the viewers and Allie are the only ones who know. I would have loved it if at least ONE of the girls would have found out about him!

Ravenswood
(source: Tumblr)

This one was by far the biggest failure of the year! I thought, okay if it´s a "spin-off" from PLL I can´t be too bad but once I saw Aria, Caleb and the rest of the gang in Ravenswood for the first time I was sceptical. So I gave it a chance and was disappointed to say the least: I mean it all starts with this weird place and then there is this graveyard with this gravestone with Calebs picture on it and all of this weird stuff is happening. It felt like you´ve seen all of it before on other shows or in other movies....it felt old and boring!
This is such a waste of so much fresh talent, because the cast is great! But I don´t think it´ll last very long!

On a lighter note....here are my favourite tv shows of 2013:

The Killing

(source: fanpop.com)

I loved this show ever since it started last year, but the second season is just a whole other level of awesomeness! Once you get past the mumbling and actually understand what they are talking about you are in for a real treat. Great acting, awesome story telling and perfect character chemistry!!! A real insider´s tipp!

Crossing Lines

(source: Tumblr)

An awesome new tv show about a team of specialists who try to prevent bad things from happening. Well this is just a very short "overview". The team operates within Europe and even has one of Germanys best actors in it: Tom Wlaschiha! Again amazing acting and great storytelling.....but also some action and even a little bit of romance here and there! :)

Devious Maids

(source: Tumblr)

You miss "Desperate Housewives" and need a new show?! Well then you need to tune into Devious Maids...a new fun, dramatic and emotional show which is also produced by one of our beloved "housewives", Eva Longoria! I think it´s a fresh new show that you will love to watch, plus if you need one more reason to turn on your tv, here it is:

(source: Tumblr)

Twisted

(source:Tumblr)

This is the perfect show for the holidays: A guy who is released from prison, where he was because he apparently strangled his aunt. Twisted, sexy, dramatic and fun to watch. Also a love triangle and highschool drama is the perfect combination...throw in some really funny lines and you have one good new abc family show!!

The Fosters

A controversial new show about the definition of "family".....does family mean mother-father-children? Or does it mean mother-mother-children.....or father-father-children.....or mother-mother-foster children?" I love how the show deals with two very current themes: same-sex couples wanting a family life and the very hard and often very unfair foster system! This paired with the usual highschool, love drama is made for a really great new show! A MUST WATCH!!

Teen Wolf

(source: Tumblr)

I literally love this show! This season brought so many new twists and new villains....it made me crave for more! The story lines where so tangled and twisted by the end of the season it´s just crazy. The special effects are amazing for such a "little" show and it is no comparison to the "big fluffy bunny"-like Alpha from season !! I saw the promo for next season a few days ago and it looks veeery promising! It seems like we will get even more Stiles-time! <3 :)

Dexter

(source:Tumblr)

All I´m going to say is: One epic last season for one epic show that changed tv history in it´s own way! Please go ahead and read my series finale review to see what I mean: http://lets-talk-tv.blogspot.de/2013/09/dexter-0812-remember-monsters-series.html

Breaking Bad

(source:Tumblr)

All that needed to be said is said here: Read if you like!

Under the Dome

(source: Tumblr)

A town trapped under a mysterious dome....sounds weird? Well if I tell you that Chestersmill is not just any town, at least for me, maybe that works;) The show is filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina and "Under the Dome" just shows how versatile this little town is. Usually I´m not a fan of "LOST"-like syfy/mystery shows, but this one just got me! There are so many questions in every episode and so much drama, definitely one to watch!!

Reign

(source: Tumblr)

This one really grew on me.....when I first started watching it I just could not get past the outfits, that did not seem authentic and little things like asphaltic streets. But once I focused on the storyline and the characters I kind of liked it. Of course there is a love triangle, but this combined with the battle for a crown and a whole country is just one hell of a mix! One of my insider´s tipps!!!

Sleepy Hollow

(source: Tumblr)

An other show filmed in the beautiful town of Wilmington! I just love it how you can recognise certain places in the show :) Also the storytelling is amazing and I love the chemistry between "Icky" and  Abbie....this mixed with the mystery and the action is amazing. One of my new favourite shows this year! A guy from 1781 coming back from the dead in 2013 is just hilarious to watch....him "discovering" the internet was my absolute highlight this season :)

The Tomorrow People

(source: Tumblr)

You need a reason to watch The Tomorrow People?! Well here are a few: First of all, there is an other Amell in town <3, the show is produced by Julie Plec who also works on "The Vampire Diaries", there are amazing special effects, Marc Pellegrino plays an amazingly bad villain (who by the way might be not as bad as we think;) ) and there is a lot of loooove!! You heard enough?! Okay then start watching!!

The Originals

(source: Tumblr)

Yet another amazing show by Julie Plec!! I was lucky enough to witness the filming of the pilot episode in March. This was my personal highlight this year....I always wanted to see how everything works "behind the scenes" and this year I got a glimpse of it. Also my friend and I where able to meet the amazing man that portrays one of the best character on tv right now: Joseph Morgan aka. Klaus!!! The show is so dark and light at the same time....everyone who loves Klaus will love the show. We see a whole other side of this character and his history with his family!! Also the other "Originals" really grew on me:)

The Vampire Diaries

(source: Tumblr)

Elena, Damon, Stefan, Kathereine, Matt, Caroline, Bonnie,....I could go on and on listing the entire cast but this would take way to long!! This season started kind of slow for me....don´t get me wrong, a lot of stuff happened, but the only thing that kept me watching was Elena and Damon and the funny lines that where dropped. All the Doppelganger/ Trippleganger whatever stuff kind of annoyed me. It felt like there was really nothing new: This is until the doctor came into town!! It seems like the rest of the season is going to be one wild ride!!

Arrow

(source: Tumblr)

OLICITY!!! This is all that there needs to be said! Great show with a lot of action and a  lot of awkward Felicity scenes;)

Carrie Diaries

(source: Tumblr)

You think a younger version of Carrie will not work? Well it does....for everyone who loved "Sex and the City": You will enjoy this show! Crazy hair, crazy styles and one main character that we love from the minute she appears on the screen, plus a "younger" Samantha is just as amazing as the "older" one :)

How I met your Mother

(source: Tumblr)

As the final curtain is about to fall this show shows us why we like it in the first place: A great group of friends, the search for a mother (which is over by the way!!) and lines to die for!!

Mom

Just the right comedy for a good laugh with friends or just a rainy day. Thought you had a weird mom?? Well, you don´t ;)

Melissa and Joey & 2 Broke Girls

(source: Tumblr)

I have never laughed as hard as when I was watching these shows...just love them!!

and as you already knew my absolute favourite show of the year (because I only started watching this year):

Sons of Anarchy

(source: Tumblr)

So this where the tv shows that where the best and the worst for me this year.....in terms of movies....there is just really one who blew my mind this year, yet again!

Fast 6

(source: Tumblr)

These movies are always a treat! Fast cars, a lot of things exploding, action behind every corner, great looking cast.....and Paul Walker! May he rest in peace!!

That´s it from me you guys...what where your highlights this year?!

Let´s hear it :)
