You got what you deserved, didn´t you? - Breaking Bad finale
I just started to watch Breaking bad about 2 months ago and wasn´t shure what to think of the storyline at first: A teacher turned meth dealer?! But after watching the first episode I knew what all the fuzz was about. The timing and chemistry (^^) between Walter and Jesse is out of this world. To see how in the first episodes of the first season Walter thinks that his new partner in crime is just a looser junkie dealer kid, who doesn´t has a clue what he is doing, is just hilarious. But at the same time as the season progresses you see how difficult it gets for Walt to arrange his private live with his new secret one is amazing. People who know me know, that I am not easily suprised by things happening in tv shows. Most of the time you can see things coming.....but not with Breaking Bad. So to everyone who wants to see amazing writing and wonderful actors should definetly check out Breaking Bad.
To everyone who already is a fan of the show and wants to know what I think about the series finale can read on......everyone else: SPOILER ALTERT!!
The opening of the final episode called "Felina" is already amazing: We see Walter entering his car that is surrounded by snow. He´s looking for the keys and when he cant find them he tries to start the car with a screwdriver. Of course it´s not working and when you notice flashing blue lights coming from behind the car and sounds of sirenes, you know: They got him! Walter sits very still and under his frosty breath he says: "Just get me home, just get me home. I´ll do the rest." Of course the cops pass the car and Walt is "safe" he finds the carkeys in the screen of the car and drives. A few scenes later we know where he is headed....to the Schwartz residence. At this point I pretty much knew that he would kill them, just to prove a point. As they clash inside the house Walt makes them unload his money (9. something million dollars!!!) out of the car and lets them stack it on the living room table, just for the dramatic effect;) After that Walter explains to them that the money is for his family and that he cant give it to them but the Schwartz´as a wealthy couple can make a generous donation to a family in need (clever Walt, very clever!!). To make shure that they will not call the police or even just take the money and keep it, Walt waves his hand in the direction of the panorama window and to red dots appear on Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz´s chest. I mean who thinks of that? I was shure Walt would come over there finish them off and then leave, but instead he does one last thing for his family, which is actually pretty nice considering that everything else he ever did, he did for himself:)
So Walter White leaves the residence and pics up the to "snipers"; it turns out the deadly dots on the Schwartz´s chests where just laserpointers....gosh Walter is a true genius. Okay where will he go next? Will he kill someone or what will happen? My anxiety level was already over the roof after Walts last move!! It turns out that he goes to see Lydia. He then learns that they dont need him anymore to cook the meth, because aparently now they have someone to do it for them. Walt soon realizes that this person must be Jesse; he arranges a meeting with the "Nazis", but before that he does one more stop: He goes and sees Skyler!
And there it is again, the great acting that just draws you in and makes everything very "real".....I could literally see how the very sick and awefull looking walt was saying his goodbye to his scared and even confused wife. I loved the moment where Sky makes him admit, that all he has done since he started cooking was for him and never for his family. Her satisfaction seems to touch her deeply as she cries silently....this scene actually didnt need many words, because its just so powerfull!Great job!! After Walter says goodbye to Holly and sees Walt Jr. for ine last time he is off to the clubhouse.
When everyone is assembled Walter demands to see their "partner" Jesse; he actually thinks that he would work with those monsters? Really Walter?! Anyway, they bring him out and this is the moment when you realize, that Walts former partner does not care if he lives or dies. The look in his eyes is just empty and full of pain. To be honest, I think Walter sees that. Lets do a little flashback, so that everyone understands whats coming next:
In the middle of the episode we see Mr. White in the desert (where else) building some sort of mashine, although you can not really see what it will be once its finished, you know it can be triggert with the carkeys. So back to the clubhouse (Walts car in parked right in front of it by the way!)....Before Jesse is brought in Walter already tried to get his keys back, that are now lying on the pooltable and he finally has them when his former friend walks in. There is some arguing going on and the next thing you see it Walt wrestling Jessie and they both fall to the gorund. In that second Walter pushed a button on his carkey and a mashine gun rises out of his trink and starts firing along the whole front of the clubhouse. "Oh, this is what the mashine was for....cool stuff!" That where my exact thought once I saw that scene;) As expected there is a lot of blood and a lot of dead bodies and after the firing stops Jesse wresteles Todd and kills him. I actually "liked" how that played out, because Todd took so much from Jesse and did so many terrible things to him, that for me it was just fair the way this one ended. After Walter finishes off the Nazi boss him and Jesse have a stand-off. Walter kicks his gun over to his former partner and tells him to kill him, but after Jessie realizes that Walt is bleeding, he tells him to do it himself and leaves the clubhouse. Walt follows him out and at this point I have the feeling Mr. White willl kill this guy! But again, I thought wrong, very wrong!! He actually lets him go! Thank you Breaking Bad writers, thank you very much!! I think that Breaking Bad fans understand it when I say that if someone deserves to survive the finale of this show, especially after this last season, it´s Jesse! So while Jessie drives off into his freedom, Walter calls Lydia to tell her, that the fact that she is feeling a little under the weather is, because he replaced the Stevia that she always puts into her tea with ricin. Basically he called her, to let her know she´ll be dead by tommorow! Amazing writing, just amazing.....I really didnt see that coming too:) So Walter walks to the lab and takes one final round before he falls to the ground and dies in the place that he called home. I really liked the ending, although it was sad and so on, but it´s a very fitting one! I havent seen a show with so many plot twists in a very long time and I´m glad I checked it out.
So thank you to the writers, the producers and especially to the amazing cast, that made it so easy to enjoy the show!
What did you guys think of "Felina"? Did everyone get what they deserved? Lets talk tv!!
